Three perfect treatments for dry hands

Hydrating and exfoliating hand mask

  • 1 tbsp oats flour
  • 2 tsp full-fat fresh cream
  • 1 tsp aloe vera gel
  • few drops of ghee/clarified butter

Add all these ingredients in a mixing bowl and mix till it becomes smooth in consistency. Let it sit for 10 minutes. Then apply a layer of this mixture all over your hands. And then let it do its magic on your hands for 20 minutes. Then wash it off with tap water. For washing, sprinkle some water all over your hands and rub them together for 30 seconds to exfoliate dead skin. Then wash it off with tap water. Voila, you have soft and clean hands.

You can keep it in refrigerator for few days. But I prefer to make mine fresh.

Repairing hand rub oil

  • 3 tbsp of coconut oil
  • 1 tsp of drops of tea tree oil
  • 1tsp of pure vitamin E oil

Take a small bottle and add all the above-mentioned ingredients in it. Shake it well and use it every day before going to bed. Coconut oil will moisturise your hands, tea tree oil has natural antibacterial properties and reduces inflammation whereas vitamin E oil will boost healing your skin.

I keep it on shelve for months and it doesn’t go off.

Intense moisturising cream

  • 50 ml of olive oil
  • 45 grams of cocoa butter
  • 1 gram of vitamin E oil
  • few drops of Lavender oil

Melt cocoa butter in hot water (don’t use direct heat). I just put my cocoa butter jar in a bowl of hot water. Once melted add olive oil. Mix well and let it cool. Once cooled it will solidify again. If not put it in the refrigerator. Once cooled, add vitamin E oil and lavender oil. Now beat it till it reaches soft cream-like consistency. Store this cream in a clean and dry glass jar.

It doesn’t go bad on the shelve for weeks, but if you are concerned, keep it in the refrigerator. It will be good for a couple of months. If you put it in refrigerator please label it in big bold letters, “HAND MOISTURISER”.

Create a regime for better results

If you have very dry and damaged skin you need to combine your hand care treatment with your night time skin care routine. Do it after finishing everything, right before going to bed.

Once on twice a week, apply “hydrating and exfoliating hand mask”. After washing it with lukewarm water, apply “repair hand rub oil” on slightly damp hands to lock in moisture. Massage it nicely all over your hands, nails and cuticles for good 5 minutes. Then put on clean cotton gloves and take your beauty sleep. When you wake up in the morning, you should notice a significant difference. It worked even on my dad’s badly damaged skin. He is a 68-year-old man who loves to work in his garden but can’t be bothered to put on gloves.

Apply “Repairing hand rub oil” every night before going to bed. And use “Intense moisturising cream” after every hand wash.
